Subject: 2026 CanAm Zone meet

You are receiving this it is because you are listed on the SDC website as either a newsletter editor, or a president of the Pacific Can
Am zone of SDC.  If you are not currently in either of those positions, could you please kindly pass it on to the proper person.  (As well, you may want to update your club listing on the SDC website!!).  I have also copied the current regional managers.

This note will confirm the Calgary Foothills Chapter intention to proceed with the Pacific CanAm zone meet to be held August 28 to 30, 2026 in Calgary, Alberta!!  We sincerely hope to see as many people as possible in attendance.  The following are a few important notes:

  1. Attached are pdf and word copies of the registration form
    1. Please pass the information on to your respective club members either via email, paper or in your upcoming newsletters
    2. You will need to book the hotel separately.  The rate and contact numbers are shown on the registration form.
    3. You can either

                                                        i.      Complete the paper copy and mail it along with your funds to the address shown on the registration form, or

ii.      Use the link in the form to access the Calgary foothills website and complete the registration process online using a credit card for payment…there will be a slight charge for cc charges unfortunately of around $10.

          1. The Calgary foothills website is: https://www.foothillssdc.ca

  1. In the next few weeks, we will be mailing quantities of the meet brochure to each of the clubs in our zone (to the presidents of the respective clubs if a mailing address is available for the president, otherwise they will go to the next available address for each club.
    1. Please hand them out to your members at future events.
  2. The event has a dedicated parking location for our cars; we will not be having a vendor setup.  We are, however, encouraging everyone to fill their trunk with spare parts and treasures that you want to “liquidate”.  I believe in England they call it a “boot sale” as their cars don’t have trunks, but have boots instead (I don’t know why, but it is what it is!)
  3. PLEASE register as early as possible.  This will help us greatly as funds for this event are limited in our club and we have $$ guarantees that we must meet with the venue

On behalf of the Calgary, Foothills Chapter, we hope to see you all there, rain, snow, sun, or sleet (which can all happen on the same day sometimes!)

Studebaker Truck Farmer

Not sure how many of you know about Studebaker Truck Farmer's family. I first learned of them back when I lived in Virginia. It's not a formal group, we don't have meetings or dues but we do have an online blog of sorts. Anyone can go to the blog and read posts and you can post for free, just need to join. We are centered around Studebaker trucks but many have Studebaker cars and sometimes you'll see a car post.

Check it out: https://www.tapatalk.com/groups/studebakertrucktalk/

SOSO Meeting minutes, February 2026

The February meeting of the Studebakers of Southern Oregon chapter of the Studebaker Drivers club was held at Debby's diner in Phoenix at 1pm on Saturday February 7th and hosted by chapter VP Peter Braun.
The weather was cloudy but dry and cool but not cold so eleven members and five Studebakers were present.
Colleen brought her mom Barbara and Miles' car savvy friend and Lotus Elan driver Sacha joined us as well.
This meeting featured the debut of Mark McCoy's '50 2R5 1/2 ton pickup, newly roadworthy!

The meeting was cow-belled to order by our perennially unchallenged chapter President John Weinrich at 1:20PM.

Acting chapter secretary Peter B. read the previous meeting's minutes which Colleen O. motioned should be accepted as read, with Richard S. seconding.

Treasurer Colleen O. tendered the treasurer's report, confirming what remains to be a healthy chapter bank account with recent deposits somewhat off-setting the cost of our donation to the Museum and of our 2026 calendar project.

Old business again included business cards volume one and two, T-shirts and calendars still being available.
New business concerned the possibility of this year including a December meeting, previously routinely cancelled, and Miles volunteered to host one

(See the up-dated meeting schedule published on the SOSO blog page.)

The 50/50 drawing was officiated by Ken H. with the winner selected at random by our guest Barbara, so no foul play was suspected as President John Weinrich again won the drawing and generously donated his winnings to the club treasury.

Peter's previous pleas to members to bring something each month for the member drawing schwag table, found it again piled high with goodies. Members at this meeting were encouraged to peruse the table before the meeting to make the process of selection during the actual drawing after lunch go faster, and it did.
The meeting adjourned, we headed out to the parking lot for photo ops and to admire our new addition to the flock, Mark's truck.
See you at next month's meeting, held Saturday, March 7th at 1 PM at Bee Gee's Diner, 500 E. Main Street in Rogue River!
