January 2026 Club Meeting Minutes
The January 2026 luncheon/business meeting of SOSO, hosted by chapter president John Weinrich was held at the historic Taprock in Grants Pass on Saturday, January 3rd.
The meeting was cowbelled to order at 1:15 with twelve attendees but onacounta rain, only three Studebakers graced the parking lot this month; Miles Chappell's '57 Silver Hawk, John W's '48 M-15a and Blake Ironside's '60 Lark VI.
No new members were present, the newest being Dave Carmel and Rick Burns - who BOTH have Studebakers featured in the first annual SOSO calendar and who, to my knowledge, own the two oldest cars in the chapter!
Acting chapter Secretary Peter B read the previous meeting's minutes noting it was back in November. No one seemed particularly interested in a chapter Christmas party/meeting 2026 when it was proposed.
Collen tendered the Treasurer's report and shared another letter from The Studebaker Museum soliciting donations. Peter proposed a $100 donation which passed with a unanimous vote.
The first annual SOSO calendar made its debut, not a moment too soon. Those in attendance got their free copy as they were reminded that 2026 chapter dues are now due. Peter will mail copies of the calendar to active members (those who paid 2025 dues.)
Members were reminded of the (this) Studebakers of Southern Oregon blog page and encouraged to familiarize with and to use it. It's super easy.
President John Weinrich collected more 2026 meeting schedule data and will collate and publish same. For the immediate future - the February meeting will be at Debby's Diner on Rt 99 between Phoenix and Medford, a restaurant with an entree called "The Studebaker", on Saturday, February 7th at 1 pm, hosted by Peter B. For March it's back to Bee Gee's Diner in Rogue River.
Old business was the same old same old. T-Shirts, Business Cards and Calendars
New business was the 2027 Calendar Project with the goals of featuring more members cars in lovely settings well photographed and having the calendar finalized by the October meeting and available by the November meeting.
Peter mentioned that the annual Keystone (PA) chapter of SDC raffle offers a 1st prize of a red Avanti this year with a second prize of $2000. Notice for the raffle is published in the current Turning Wheels.
Ken conducted the 50/50 drawing and reported record ticket sales. Blake won the drawing.
Peter went home with a very nice 1950 Commander hubcap from the schwag table, now pressed into service as a wall fixture lamp shade. Richard took home a shop manual that covers his recently acquired '60 Lark VIII Regal sedan. members are encouraged to bring a new item for the schwag table each week to keep the flow going!
Respectfully submitted Acting Secretary Peter B.
